Takuma Imao: work with #10 (Air Conditioning Equipment, Kiyosu City Haruhi Art Museum)

Takuma Imao (1992~) creates artworks and acoustic performances interposing existing spaces or systems so as to temporarily transform their nature.
His signature work, the “work with” series, utilizes air conditioning devices installed in buildings in order to produce sounds.
Here, the entirety of the Kiyosu City Haruhi Art Museum building (and the existence of the art museum itself) serve as the framework for the piece, and by adding occasional bold and sometimes subtle touches, the artist works to bring about changes in our consciousness and behavior.
One could say that for Imao, the artwork is not an independent entity, but rather a collaboration (work[ing] with) all matter present in a given place or time, including the creative process.
