Yuichiro Tamura

Yuichiro Tamura tackles a wide range of subjects based on local history and culture, popular interest, as well as his own personal concerns, connecting them in sometimes surprising ways to create installations that include videos and moving images. Many of these works are commissions, and are created after Tamura performs detailed research in various locations in order to offer fresh interpretations of original histories and memories. These multilayered narratives, constructed through a process that is seemingly tortuous and meandering, touch upon important issues such as national hegemony and cultural complexes through the sensation of “fiction” and “fakeness.”
