
Yashima Koichi
Yashima Koichi was born and lives in Osaka Prefecture. All his works are made from found objects. He is a member of Buruumu Konohana, a welfare facility (run by Social Welfare Corporation Nippon Helen Keller Foundation) in Osaka Prefecture. Yashima would collect items he found on the way to the facility. From around 1996, he began creating objets d’art by coming these items using cellophane tape, an activity he stuck at until around 2013. Yashima combined numerous materials in ways that utilized their distinctive forms and characteristics, for example, and he also produced more targeted forms of expression using minimal combinations, with all the resultant works bursting with a rich ingenuity.
