Yamazaki Kenichi

Yamazaki Kenichi was born in Niigata Prefecture. He began creating in his mid-20s when he entered Minamihama Hospital (run by Medical Corporation Kenseikai) in Niigata Prefecture. His works feature motifs like heavy machinery, vehicles and control centers drawn on graph paper. These themes probably reflect his pre-hospitalization job as a migrant construction worker in Tokyo. In the same sense, the vegetation drawn between the other motifs is probably connected to his family’s background in farming. Throughout his artistic career, he continued to create blueprints for monumental edifices born of his own experiences and rich imagination.
