Yamagami Yukihiro

Born 1976 in Osaka. Studied architecture at Osaka University of Arts; graduated in oil painting from Kyoto Seika University. Produces works using an original method dubbed “canvas projection,” which integrates light and time into painting by projecting video—captured from an identical vantage point—onto drawings of familiar, everyday scenes. He has participated in exhibitions worldwide including at Tokyo Station Gallery (commemorating the restoration of Tokyo Station), Asahi Beer Oyamazaki Villa Museum of Art (Kyoto), 21_21 Design Sight (Tokyo), Modern Art Museum Shanghai, and National Gallery of Victoria (Australia). Recipient of the 11th Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art Special Prize and the Mio Photo Award 2000 Excellence Award.
