Tomoya ISHIBASHI

Born in 1990. Completed studies at Waseda University Graduate School’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Bioscience. Focused on items inhabiting the boundary between natural and man-made, such as goldfish, lacquer, and language, in an attempt to approach their nature, construction, and history from a scientific and technological perspective. Awarded the Excellence Award in the Art Division of the 23rd Japan Media Arts Festival presented by the Agency for Cultural Affairs (2021) and the WIRED CREATIVE HACK AWARD Grand Prix (2019) and was selected for the 25th Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art (2022). Held a solo exhibition, “Machine of Words” (TOKAS Hongo, Tokyo).
