Takao Kurioka
Takao Kurioka was born in Osaka-fu in 1951 and graduated from the Osaka Prefectural Kogei High School Department of Design. He began his career as an artist starting with his first solo exhibition in 1976. Starting with printmaking, he engaged in large-scale installations in public spaces such as cultural centers, hospitals, offices, parks, and the like, including creating a mural in the lobby of Lloyds Banking Group in Osaka (1981). He released works combining brilliant colors and geometric forms such as circles, triangles, and rhombuses in layers for the 3rd Hara Annual (Hara Museum) and the New Generation of Contemporary Art Exhibition (Mie Prefectural Art Museum). In the same year, he was awarded an honorable mention at the 7th Frechen International Print Triennale (Germany). The following year, he exhibited his work at “Art Now ’84”. In 2000, he founded a company centered around commission work. In 2003, he held a solo exhibition at Art Court Gallery (Osaka), and the following year, he installed work on the “Sculpture Path” of the same venue.
