Takahashi Kazuhiko
Takahashi Kazuhiko was born in Iwate Prefecture. He is a member of Morioka Sanseien, a welfare facility (run by Social Welfare Corporation Jiritsukoseikai) in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, and he began creating in earnest at age 58 after participating in the facility’s art club. Many of Takahashi’s works gaze over composition landscapes from up high. Occasionally these scenes are packed with vast multitudes of people. The sheer degree of crowding contrasts strikingly with the bucolic scenes and smiling people, with the charm of the paintings lying in these contrary but co-existing impressions of serenity and obsessive compulsion.
