Suzuki Sou
Born in Saitama in 1986. After graduating from Bunka Fashion College, Sou went to Belgium. Upon returning to Japan, he worked at costume design ateliers for contemporary dance and modern theater. Alongside this work, he began creating sculptures, mainly exploring the complex history and criticality inherent in sculpture from a contemporary perspective, producing works that investigate the relationship between matter and time. Since 2019, Sou has also been curating exhibitions, including “Sculpture Writing Exhibition,” which dealt with the relationship between sculpture and text, and “the attitude of post-industrial garments,” which juxtaposed fashion and art. From 2022, he has been writing a regular column for the web media “FASHIONSNAP.COM,” which covers fashion and art.
Sou also contributes to various other media outlets including “ARTnews JAPAN.” His major solo exhibitions include “open the door,” at roomF Preparation Room in 2018 and “fortunes” at TAV GALLERY in 2023.
