Sugihara Nobuyuki×Nakamura Ayaka

We are a unit consisting of Nakamura Ayaka, a hat maker whose handicrafts are tied to everyday life, and Noboyuki Sugihara, an artist. By joining together fragments of the land’s memories, we give form to the shape residing within the land and perform rituals through improvisational dance using the body born from the creative act. By inheriting the traditional culture of the land and reviving the rich spirituality and physicality from before the separation of life and art, we evoke a culture where life and beauty coexist. Surpassing the “self”, the land begins to speak; this is the true definition of expression.
