Saya IRIE

Born in 1983. Completed the pre-doctoral course at Hiroshima City University’s Graduate School of Arts. Awarded the 6th Shiseido Art Egg Prize (2012). Participated in the International Studio & Curatorial Program (New York, 2002; Pola Art Foundation Grant). Solo exhibitions include “Daily Monuments” (Aomori Contemporary Art Center, 2022), “Innocent Romantic Ruins: Labyrinth of Love” (Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art, 2019, and more. Pursues a unique approach in which she erases images and heaps up the resulting eraser filings to create sculptures.
