Ryota KUWAKUBO

Born in 1971. Professor at the Institute of Advanced Media Art and Sciences. Main examples of his “device art”, in which electric circuits are used as materials, include “Bitman” (1998), “PLX” (2000), “Nikodama” (2010), and more. Awarded the Excellence Award in the Art Division of the 14th Japan Media Arts Festival presented by the Agency for Cultural Affairs for “The Tenth Sentiment (Point/Line/Surface)”. Since then, has created installations which encourage inner experiences through light and shadow. In addition to his solo activities, he has been involved in producing exhibitions as part of Perfektron, including “Design Ah!” (2018).
