Okaji Kimiko

Okaji Kimiko was born in Hokkaido. She created art works as a member of Akatoki Gakuen,a welfare facility (run by Social Welfare Corporation Yourankai) in Fukagawa, Hokkaido. Her works depict a myriad of human faces in blurred and overlapping lines. Okaji’s initial works featured circles drawn within an endless parade of other circles. These circles eventually began to resemble eyes and noses, with lines then sprouting out to seemingly represent arms, legs and hair. However, just as her works began to receive recognition, Okaji declared “I won’t draw!” and she never created again.
