Namstrops

A contemporary dance company that aims to create new value by “thinking about things in reverse”—a philosophy reflected in their name: “sportsman” spelled backward. In addition to performing domestically and internationally, they lead creative dance workshops for all ages. Recipients of the 2024 Japan Foundation Prize for Global Citizenship, at the Sakamoto Zenzo Museum of Art they staged Collection Reading Vol. 3: “Applaud! A Zenzo exhibition created with Namstrops.” Since 2016 they have maintained an ongoing presence in Oguni through annual workshops at Oguni Elementary School, and performances at the museum.
