Moriyama Mirai

Born 1984, in Hyogo Prefecture. Having taken lessons in various dance genres from the age of five,
Moriyama made his official stage debut at the age of fifteen. In 2013 he spent a year based in Israel
as an Agency for Cultural Affairs “Japan cultural envoy,” a role that saw him performing across Europe.
His inter-disciplinary practice unfolding across Japan and the globe is a quest for “physical expression
that is generated through a relationship with people, things and places.” Moriyama has received
multiple Japanese acting awards for his film roles, and as a dancer was recipient of the tenth Japan
Dance Forum Award. He gave a solo performance at the opening ceremony for the 2020 Tokyo
Olympics in 2021. In 2022 he established the Artist in Residence KOBE (AiRK) program in that city,
and is actively involved in its operation.
