Miyo Iida

Miyo Iida was born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1955. She studied copperplate engraving at Nordbrücke Print Studio. Her work was selected for the 2nd Contemporary Woodblock Print Contest (Osaka Contemporary Art Center) in 1977 and the 1st Japan Emba Art Contest in 1978. In 1979, she exhibited at the “1st GOOD ART Exhibition” (Gallery Third Floor, Kyoto). Around this time, she also exhibited at the Kyoto Independent Exhibition (Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art). In 1978, she held a solo exhibition at the time of the opening of the Utsubo Gallery (Osaka), and in 1980, she founded the O.K. MIYO Print Studio in Osaka. She submitted work to “Art Now ’82’ “ and her paintings, which were filled with a sense of liveliness due to their vivid colors and daring brushstrokes, were said to exemplify new trends in painting. Partway through the 1980s, she moved to the Kanto region, where she held solo exhibitions. During the 1990s, she engaged in a wide range of activities, such as the unveiling of oil painting tableaus, and the like.
