KOSUGI+ANDO (Kosugi Mihoko, Ando Yasuhiko)

KOSUGI+ANDO is a unit composed of Mihoko Kosugi (born in 1953)and Yasuhiko Ando (also born in 1953). They began to be active in 1983, mainly around the Kyoto region. At the 1984 Kyoto Independent Exhibition (Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art) the following year, they released a “Piece Serving as a Critique and Response” to the work exhibited the previous year by Goh Hayashi and Hiroko Nakatsuka, also a unit. Following this, their large-scale work, wherein they both used a room of the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art, became customary, attracting public attention. Since the 1990s, they have released computer-controlled videos and devices both in Japan and abroad and have also been involved in the planning of exhibitions. Since 1999, they have also been engaged in a video installation series themed around memory known as, co-produced by Takashi Ito (video), Takashi Inagaki (sound), and Hiroshi Yoshioka(text).
