Kohei Yamashita

Born in Ibaraki in 1983. Graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Conceptual Design in 2008, and completed Graduate School of Fine Arts, Department of Painting, Department of Art and Design in 2010. 2012 Exhibited at “Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial 2012”. He works on installations with various materials and techniques. He actively incorporates and expresses the real physical experience and memory gained by practicing mountaineering, as well as outdoor culture such as mountaineering equipment and mountain history, targeting “mountains”. Re-recognition of the current position is promoted by re-measuring the deviation of “perspective” caused by the mixture of sense of distance, time, and scale such as “far” and “near”, and the distortion as the starting point.
