Kodai Nakahara
Kodai Nakahara was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1961 and graduated from the Kyoto City University of Arts Graduate School of Fine Arts. He began releasing work from the early 1980s, participating in group exhibitions with various self-organized projects centered on students of the same generation. He continued to create installations, as well as 3D and 2D works using various materials, changing his style each time. He exhibited his work at “Art Now” in 1985, 1986 (special display), and 1990 (Kansai Contemporary Artists of the 1980s). Following this, after his solo exhibition “Homage to the LEGO age” (Heineken Village, Tokyo) in 1990, he was prompted by questions about his works and activities as an artist up until then to make various attempts from an awareness of questioning his own existence. Since 2000, he has been involved in a wide range of activities, including participating in joint research, recording observations of swallows in their roosts, and planning exhibitions of his childhood drawings. He also held solo exhibitions at Itami City Museum (2012) and Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art (2013).
