Kimura Akane

Kimura Akane was born in Kyoto Prefecture and lives in Shiga Prefecture. She attends day care at Banban, a welfare facility (run by Social Welfare Corporation GLOW) in Konan, Shiga Prefecture, and she works out of the facility’s painting atelier. She prefers working with marker pens and thick pencils to repetitively scrawl lines on paper, with each piece taking around 2-3 minutes to complete. Creation is also an act of physical enjoyment for Kimura and she revels in the rhythm and feel of pencils and pens on paper, for example, and the sound when these writing implements run off the paper to thud onto the table.
