Kenichi Ishiguro

Born in 1986 in Kanagawa Prefecture. Based in Kyoto and Shiga Prefecture. Founding member of the shared studio Yamanaka Suplex.

Pursues the potential of sculpture while mainly handling minerals and other materials that symbolize the time and region. Engages in efforts to derive various relationships based on the theme of the uncertainty in the value associated with objects by connecting them to different cultures and histories. Has been producing works based on sculpture that cut across a variety of forms of media, such as videos, in recent years.

Main exhibitions include 3331 ART FAIR 2020 (3331 Arts Chiyoda, Tokyo; 2020), Show and Tell: The Artists of Yamanaka Suplex and You (A-Lab, Hyogo; 2019), Shiga Kinbi Art Spot Project Vol. 2: Symbiosis (Taisanjino, Takashima, Shiga; 2019), Kamikoani Project 2019 (Kamikoani, Akita; 2019), and Yesterday’s Tomorrow Is Today (VBKÖ; Vienna, Austria; 2019).
