Kaname Harada
Kaname Harada was born in Osaka-fu in 1961 and completed the master’s course at Osaka Kyoiku University in 1988. For his solo exhibition at Utsubo Gallery in 1984 and in “Art Now ‘85”, he arranged boards which were installed up to ceiling height in the shape of slatted wood like a labyrinth and presented paintings using this as a support. Since then, following “Vessel of a Flowe”, wherein chisel marks were left on the surface of structures made from joined block construction, the surfaces he has painted have arrived at organic forms such as pots, flowers, and mushrooms. A series of his works were named the“Garden of Paintings” by the artist, comparing the appreciation of the surfaces to enjoying a garden. He has held numerous solo exhibitions and has exhibited his works at “Tagayasu Yoni -As if They Were Cultivated” (The Museum of Modern Art, Wakayama) in 2003, “Nature and Art – The Adventure of Seeing Real Things” (Yokosuka Museum of Art, Kanagawa) in 2016, “Is this…an Art Exhibition?” (Kawaguchi Municipal Art Gallery Atria) in 2019, and more.
