Hatanaka Tsugumi

Hatanaka Tsugumi was born and lives in Hokkaido Prefecture. She creates art works in Seikatsu Kaigo Jigyo Beat, a welfare facility (run by Social Welfare Corporation Amu) in Sapporo, Hokkaido Prefecture. She draws using powerful crayon strokes and she creates series inspired by her interests at any given time. The works at this exhibition are taken from “Lights,” a series instigated by a light that would switch on automatically on the veranda of her home. This roused an interest in depicting all forms of lighting, from street lights to red lanterns. These works are also distinguished by the titles written in large characters within the drawings.
