Fujiwara Masaya

Oita-based artist Fujiwara is best known for his “Omen Butokai” (Masked ball) series, in which he creates a mask a day using discarded everyday objects, and series such as “Wataru Shizuka” and “Kazaguruma Dankichi” in which he performs the characters’ himself. His involvement in Oguni began in 2003 with participation in the OGUNI Art Club exhibition “Sentimental Jersey,” since which he has continued to stage various exhibitions and workshops. At the Sakamoto Zenzo Museum of Art, he held the solo exhibition Art no Kaze vol. 1: “Ennichi” (2010–2011), participated in the Museum’s “20th Anniversary Thanksgiving” (2015), and has led numerous workshops.
