
Endo Kaori
Graduated in 2013 from Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, majoring in textile arts within the craft program. In 2016, she completed her studies at Arusu Shimura, under the guidance of Fukumi Shimura. Endo explores the social and political relationships closely tied to daily life, drawing on the crafts and history rooted in various regions, including Okinawa and Tohoku, both domestically and internationally.
Primarily employing craft techniques, Endo seeks to expand the idea of “craft.” Her works encompass a wide range of items, including rags, parachutes, boat sails, as well as glass and ceramics.
In recent years, she has developed an approach to creating works inspired by her dreams, aiming to engage with forms of the unconscious.
Recent major exhibitions include: “Aichi Triennale 2022” (2022,Toyoshima Memorial Museum, Ichinomiya City), “Osaka Directory 3: Kaoru Endo ‘Gravity and Rainbow – About Minamihateruma Island'” (2023, Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka), and “Forms in Art – Sculptures Seen by Hand: Kaori Endo ‘Eye and Sphere'” (2023, Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art).
