Daisuke Yokota

Daisuke Yokota was born in Saitama prefecture in 1983 and graduated from the Nippon Photography Institute. In 2010, he won the Grand Prix at the 2nd “1_WALL” Photography Competition. He was the recipient of the OUTSET|UNSEEN Exhibition Fund at Unseen Photo Fair in 2013, won the John Kobal Residency Award at Photo London in 2015, and the Foam Paul Huf Award in 2016. In 2019, he won the 45th Kimura Ihei Photography Award for the exhibition “Room. Pt. 1” at Guardian Garden.

Daisuke Yokota has published numerous photo collections including “MATTER/BURN OUT,” “VERTIGO,” and “Tarachine.” His major solo exhibitions include “Site/Cloud” (2014) and “Matter” (2017) at the photography museum Foam, and he has participated in group exhibitions such as “The Column Project, Trans-dimensional Photos: Images in the Future Tense” (Aichi Triennale, 2016), “SHAPE OF LIGHT” (Tate Modern, 2018), and “Painting the Night” (Centre Pompidou-Metz, 2018-2019), etc. In 2016, he formed the unit “Spew” with photographers Koji Kitagawa and Naohiro Utagawa, whose wide-ranging activities include zine production and music performances.
