Cayetano Limorte
Born in Spain in 1990, he is an art historian and independent curator specialising in media art, based in Madrid. He graduated in Art History from Complutense University of Madrid in 2013 and subsequently completed the official university internship programme for the Video and Music Collections at the Spanish National Library. In 2016, he completed a Master’s degree in Contemporary Art History and Visual Culture at the Reina Sofía Museum (Madrid). In his curatorial practice, he focuses on the relationship between art, physicality and technology. Taking a transcultural approach and drawing on his interest in the philosophy of language, his projects explore themes such as alienation, loneliness, and death. As an art historian, his current research investigates the origins of video art in Japan. He recently completed a one-year term as a guest researcher at Tokyo University of the Arts (Global Arts Faculty), funded by the Canon Foundation Europe. His group exhibition Closed Circuit, based on his research in Japan, won the triennial curatorial competition organised by the Museum Committee of Valencia (Spain) and will be presented at the Carmen Art Centre (Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània) in 2026. His beginnings as a curator date back to 2016, when he joined the curatorial team at Cruce Arte y Pensamiento, a leading alternative art space founded in Madrid in 1993. He is the author of Ernesto Neto: The Body as a Common Place (Asimétricas, 2018) and is a regular contributor to the web media A*Desk Critical Thinking.
