Aisha Khalid

Born in 1972, in Faisalabad, Pakistan. Based in Lahore, Pakistan.

After studying miniature paintings in the historic city of Lahore in Pakistan, Khalid moved to study in the Netherlands in the early 2000s, amid remaining political influence following the 9.11 in the USA. While inheriting traditional painting techniques, she started incorporating contemporary issues in her work, referring to the social status of Muslim women and the power inequality pervading contemporary society. Khalid has been continuously developing new creations as one of the artists bringing innovative change in the traditions of miniature paintings.
