A3BC (Anti-War, Anti-Nuclear, and Arts of Block-Print Collective)

Founded in the summer of 2014 at the Shinjuku infoshop Irregular Rhythm Asylum (IRA), A3BC drew early inspiration from Southeast Asian block-print collectives such as Pangrok Sulap, Taring Padi, and Marjinal. Their ongoing solidarity and cultural exchange with these groups deeply shaped their practice, teaching them both the craft and the collaborative spirit of collective printmaking.
While their origins and name remin rooted in anti-war and anti-nuclear activism, A3BC has since evolved to confront a wider spectrum of social issues through their prints. They produced Tsubute in 2024 during the “Hundred-Year Performing Arts Festival @ Aomori Museum of Art” held in conjunction with “The Manifesta of Museum Composting” exhibition.
